one of a kind flower collages by Kate Rabbit
If you have been following this blog for a while you will know that I’m a bit obsessed with collages! So when I discovered Kate’s beautiful art on Pinterest I instantly knew I had to share her work here with you! ♥︎
“Collage has been my preferred medium since age twelve. A collector by nature, it has always been instinct to hold onto favorite images, postcards, vintage ephemera, feathers on the ground and old books; I see these things as artwork waiting to be created. During middle school, my closet doors were completely covered in magazine pages, and throughout high school the frames on my walls only ever held handmade collages and found items. In college I studied illustration and graphic design, where I learned to combine the art of modern design with the precious experience of tangible, traditional methods.
Interestingly, it wasn’t until early 2016 that I began a routine collage practice – what I now call my “Muse Blooms” series. Depending solely on my mood, a muse (model) and various flowers are selected & arranged together, then complemented with a floral or leafy line drawing. To date, over 100 Muse Bloom collages have been made. What I love most about this practice is how every day can produce such different results – I like to think of each muse as my personality for the day, a mirror of who I am. I hope you find the same to be true for you.”
