HYBYCOZO by Yelena Filipchuk & Serge Beaulieu
If you have been to Burning Man 2015 or last year or followed the pics on instagram or any other social network I’m sure you have noticed the amazing series of laser cut sculptures called HYBYCOZO. The project by artists Yelena Filipchuk & Serge Beaulieu is inspired by the intersection of science, technology, maker culture, and their favorite book, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Hoping to capture some of the wonder and curiosity that sparked their love of geometric patterns and art, Yelena and Serge began to study everything from ancient Islamic tiles to the patterns created by particle physicists when modeling the unified field theory. The constant theme that arose was that the appearance of beauty within naturally occurring harmonic relationships and patterns in the natural world. The work thrives at art and music festivals, galleries, as interior design pieces, in urban environments, or as landscape elements. Absolutely beautiful!
