I´m in love with Neil Krug´s photography and Tracy Conti McCarty´s work ever since I discoverd them. And their work together here for Tracy´s Prism of Threads is more than amazing. Just had to share this with you!
“Prism of Threads began in the early summer of 2011 as a vehicle for Tracy Conti McCarty to share vintage, handmade, & ethnic wearable art with the world. She was raised by a retail mama who took her on thrift store expeditions more regularly than most people go to church. She spent five years in New York City, working in junk shops and combing treasures from the vast seas of vintage the city had to offer. In Los Angeles, she discovered new colors and textures in the ethnic textiles and embroidery that drifted north from Central and South America. Driven by a deep respect for our planet and it’s limited resources, Prism of Threads makes garments from vintage textiles, using handcrafted techniques to make pieces that are truly sustainable and unique. Everything you see in the shop is handpicked, one of a kind, and made with love!”
