When we saw the latest Woven Sun collection shoot we instantly knew we have to share this radness with you folks!
Absolute babe Lili in their vibrant Citrus Electrics Intimates was captured by Miami based photographer Carianne Older which was so kind to tell us a little bit about the inspo behind this shoot and her amazing work…
Tell us about the inspo for your Wovensun shoot?
Lili and I got together in the home she was vacationing in down in Miami and created some retro vibes for Woven Sun together. The wall paper moment was incredible, it meshed right in with Woven Sun’s vibe. I always try to keep my shoots set in the eras of 1970-1990. This one felt very 1970’s to me.
How did you get into photography?
I got into photography because i was modeling so much that one day it clicked in my head that I could be the one taking the photos, so I bought a really nice film camera and the rest is history!
What inspires you most?
My number one inspiration is anything David Lynch related. Other than that…dreamy settings, my friends, the sky, the sun, the beach, the color red.
What does photography mean to you?
Photography means a lot to me, photography is my creative outlet turned career. I love to take photos so much, I am always inspired by making others feel good about themselves through photography.
As a kid what did you dream of becoming?
My whole life up until college I swore I was going to be on Broadway as a performer. Things changed, and thankfully I changed my mind. I did end up working on Broadway, but as a house manager. So in the grand scheme of things, I did manifest working on Broadway from a very very young age- just not in the way I always saw myself doing it.
What do you think is most important at a shoot?
Trust. Trust between me and the model. I need to know that they feel confident, comfortable, and willing to create with me.
Is there anyone whose work has influenced you?
Many of my photographer friends I have met in real life or on instagram inspire me. We all inspire each other, everyone is producing such great work nowadays, it’s easy to be inspired.
How would you describe your style?
Dreamy, girly, retro, fancy, feminine.
What is the most challenging part about being a photographer for you?
It’s all challenging, photography is not easy! Don’t be fooled, it looks fun and simple, but it’s really not. Im self-taught, so learning to shoot film was a journey…hey, it still is a journey! I learn something new everyday, and I get stronger with every shoot I do.
Any photography tips?
Don’t be scared to shoot film! Pick up a camera and put down your iPhone.
What are your future plans?
I’m taking the leap and moving to Los Angeles in July, catch me out there from now on!
