I discovered France Chaulet and her designs on instagram the other day fell in love right away.
France reworks military wear into one of a kind pieces, inspired by festivals, markets and world travel.

But first let France tell you a bit about her work and designs:
So who are you and where do you call home?
My name is France and I’m a south London girl , I customise jackets and have been a market stall trader selling woman’s cloths for many years .Ive been blessed to have worked with a lot of interesting creative people in my life , glass blowers , jewellery designers and have been everything from tequila slammer girl to a fashion illustration lecturer.
Tell us about your label.
Dressing woman makes you realise how fleeting confidence can be but also how simple it is to put a smile on someone’s face and lift their day . Clothing that can be dressed up or down , that’s easy to wear with a twist and makes you feel good are my favs.
Why military wear?
So I’ve always customised over the years ,re-working garments ,sewing ,dying, patching……Peace Jackets ( made with ❤️ )
It sounds a bit fluffy but the idea of a military jacket symbol of war covered in symbols of peace , and all that good stuff ,really appeals to me when the world seems like it’s gone mad .
I like the contrast .
What goals do you have as a designer?
It would be wonderful to make a living doing just this and see people I really like wearing my pieces….. that would be lovely ( I get excited just seeing my customers randomly ! )
What are you most proud off?
Family
What does “being free” mean to you?
To be free from self doubt ,Drink 10 tequila shots , dress in feathers , swim naked in my heels and think What the hell I want .

Probably my highest ( my son ) and my lowest moments.
