Behind the Labels – Bohemian Diesel Marketplace
I don’t even find words to express how much I’m in love with the beautiful modern macramé wall hangings designed by gorgeous Aida de Sàrraga, of OJIBWA BARCELONA. When I discovered her amazing work on Instagram I knew instantly I have to get in touch with her and ask her if she wants to be a part of our Marketplace! Well and, lucky me, she said yes! 🙂 So I’m more than excited to introduce OJIBWA BARCELONA to you!
Here is the interview I did with Aida for our “Behind the Labels – Bohemian Diesel Marketplace” series:
So who are you and what do you do?
Hello! I’m Aida de Sàrraga the founder and the maker of OJIBWA BARCELONA.
An Ojibwa is an original wall hangings designed by me using a modern macrame technique and produced with special and unique products from all over the world that make Ojibwa’s unique pieces of wall decoration. I use to add shells recollected from Mauritius Island and from the Bulgarian Black Sea, for example, beautiful feathers…
What was the first piece you ever created?
The first piece I created is not for sale, I was exploring with new materials and techniques, and the result was a wall hanging done with three twigs creating a filled triangle lace and with Peruvian wool hanging from it. It was more rustic than the actual pieces. I gave it to a good friend of mine. But perhaps I will do it again with an improved design… Who knows?!
As a creative, where do you draw your inspiration from?
I think that nature is my inspiration, the peace I like to feel in home, the bohemian style… I want to make pieces that approximate you to all these sensations.
What is your favorite piece you’ve ever created?
For the moment the Cowrie is my favorite, but I’m starting with a new collection done with Indian colorful bands that are… So so beautiful!
What’s next? What’s your vision for the future of ojibwa barcelona?
I have two news collection in process, India collection done with the Indian bans I told before and China collection done with Chinese embroidery cloth, all the collections are worked with macrame as well.
I hope that OJIBWA BARCELONA reaches the walls of the houses of all those people who like and appreciate the bohemian style of the manual work I do, to fill them with serenity and nature.
Oh I really can’t wait to see her new designs!!!!
