TALLULAH ROSE
Behind the Labels – Bohemian Diesel Marketplace
Happy Monday beautiful souls! This week really couldn’t start any better, a new beautiful clothing and accessories label just hit our Marketplace, and I’m pretty excited to introduce it to you today: Tallulah Rose
Tallulah Rose is a bohemian luxe clothing brand created by Cyprus based mother & daughter duo Melina & Evangelina.
The Tallulah Rose woman is a walking intoxicating poem of vibrant prints, dense embroideries and airy silhouettes that channel the ultimate hippie & bohemian fantasies.
Oh we are absolutely in love with their gorgeous designs and sooo happy to have them onboard!
Before you head over to the Marketplace now read what they told us about their label in the interview we did for our “Behind the Labels” series:
Who is behind Tallulah Rose? And where do you call home?
Tallulah Rose was created by mother and daughter – Melina and Evangelina Fysa.
Melina: I am the designer and the buyer.
Evangelina: I am a writer and a visual director. I am also responsible for the development of the website and its content.
What gave you the push to create your own label?
Melina: After studying fashion and interior design in London, I moved back to Cyprus where I put my dreams on hold to become a wife and a mother. But I was a seasoned traveller from a young age and had a penchant for cherry-picking and then compartmentalising traditions and cultures from all around the world. And so, on one hot summer day the label’s genesis came into being after my husband and my daughter persuaded me.
How would you describe Tallulah Rose?
Evangelina: Tallulah Rose is a paean to escapism and a tribute to the strong and independent woman. With an emphasis on handmade, we adopt the helter-skelter style of life and create a sumptuous medley of cultures. The Tallulah Rose woman is a walking intoxicating poem of vibrant prints, dense embroideries and airy silhouettes that channel the ultimate hippie & bohemian fantasies.
What was the main inspiration behind the creation of the brand?
Melina: The main inspiration behind the creation of the brand is my daughter. She has this can’t-be-bothered, just-rolled-out-of-bed hippy look which I distilled into the brand (laughs). But most importantly, I based the brand on her innocent, kind and timid nature.
Evangelina: I’ve never belonged to the ‘cool kids’ group and even now I can’t quite grasp the concept of fitting in. But because of that, I’ve learned to seek glimpses of beauty within and to work with the ones who are different. That’s the best part of innocence – you see and love things for what they are and not for what they are supposed to be. Being hot is just a perception – but true beauty is appreciation. And so I think the entire essence of Tallulah Rose – the clothes, the girls I choose to cast, the visuals – everything is based upon the notion of looking natural and feeling at ease with yourself. Because the people who are in harmony with their own spirit are like a flowing river – they are unstoppable and free. Free of strife and free to dream. And what’s more important than being free?
What makes you the happiest about your job?
Melina: I love that I get to travel and witness endless changing horizons, meet and interact with different artisans and absorb nature’s earthy tones as well as culture’s saturated hues. And while doing that, I get to bond with my family!
Evangelina: I love the fact that my mom gives me complete creative freedom to create outside the confines… and occasionally, step in front of the camera (laughs)! Performing and creating serve as my ultimate escape.
Who is your style icon?
Melina: Talitha Getty – her airy gowns, her patterned kaftans and that mysterious allure serve as the ultimate inspiration to my wardrobe.
Evangelina: Jane Birkin because she is the epitome of French bohemia and she has this je m’en fous attitude I covet.
What’s your favorite quote and why is it so impressionable on you?
Melina: This is something I always tell my daughter: believe in yourself and shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars.
Evangelina: The meaning of life is to find your gift but the purpose of life is to give that gift away. Through my work, I want to deliver a message to all the kids that find themselves isolated, judged and neglected. Kids that need to find solace in something. I want those kids to feel loved, understood and accepted for the way they are.
What’s next? What’s your vision for the future of your brand?
Evangelina: I wish in the near future to cast young artists and musicians to represent the tattered archetype of the brand.
Melina: I hope for Tallulah Rose to be globally recognised. Because in a world, where serenity has been beaten into oblivion, the birth of Tallulah Rose is nothing more but a peaceful message – make love, not war.
Thank you so much Melina & Evangelina for letting us have a look behind the curtain and for being part of our Marketplace family!
